Earlier this week, ITCo officials received a communique from the Amarr Empire threatening to "throw the full weight of our industry" into warfare over ITCo commercial operations in the Aquarii system.
"This threat from the Amarr is really quite bizarre," responded Lucius Starfox Sr., VP of Strategic Operations. "They have no reasonable grounds for a claim on the Aquarii system."
He explained that the planets in the Aquarii system are closer to ITCo corporate headquarters on Oceanus VI than the Amarri homeward, and the ITCo has maintained a continuous presence around the Aquarii system since it's discovery by ITCo surveyors two years ago.
"You can't claim an entire star system because you flew a scout ship through it once," said Starfox Sr. "And if you could, the right to claim Aquarii would still belong to the Interstellar Trading Company, who visited the system long before the Amarri."
ITCo executives stated they will continue their commercial operations in the Aquarii system and dismissed the Amarri's commitment to "find a peaceful solution". According to Starfox Sr. "It is the view of the Board of Directors that there is no need to negotiate a solution because there is no conflict. Indeed, the only conflict that exists is apparently the one between reality and the imagination of Amarri cartographers."
He emphasized that "If a real conflict does arise in the future, it will be because the Amarri have launched an unwarranted, unprovoked, and dishonourable attack on ITCo property and the lives of its employees. And the Board of Directors is confident that this kind of aggression will not be tolerated by the ITCo constabulary or the galactic community."
