Statement from the ITCo Board of Directors Regarding Kortl Hostilities and Declaration of War
In the effort to manufacture a case for war, a lone Kortl vessel has purposefully engaged a small detachment of the Juno Constabulary in the Mira system. This detachment of 24 small ships, dispatched earlier to deter Amarr aggression against the Solvani Imperium in the Chi system, was given the order to fire by the Constabulary field constable due to the sudden and unprovoked advance of the Kortl ship. Analysis of the wreckage confirms that the destroyed vessel was a Kortl spy ship outfitted with advanced sensor and detection technology, headed towards ITCo space.
This incident follows the abrupt breaking of diplomatic relations with the Trading Company by the Kortl. This was done so they could mercilessly destroy the observer vessel Fox 01 in the Borr system. As a gesture of goodwill, the Trading Company had previously allowed a Kortl observer inside the Aquarii system, but the Kortl were loath to return the favour. This further confirms ITCo suspicions that the Kortl want to hide the advance of their fleets on Trading Company.
The Board of Directors met briefly to discuss these latests hostilities from the Kortl. They resolved to leave their offer of peace open to the Kortl, should they find themselves willing to apologize for their insults against the Trading Company, indemnify the Trading Company for the loss of Fox 01, renounce their reckless military campaign, and open their borders for regular weapons inspection. Failing this, the Board of Directors assured the Constabulary that defensive operations against the Kortl invaders would receive the full support of the company.
