ITCo Concludes Police Action Against Amarr Military and Renews Offer for Peace
OCEANUS VI - Constabulary expeditionary forces have returned from their police action against military facilities inside the Amarr Empire. Earlier today, Head Constable Sureka congratulated members of the Aquarii and Juno detachments for destroying high-value targets and delaying the Amarr invasion fleet.
"I'm happy to report that the Kortl arms trading depot above the Amarr homeworld has been destroyed, and every last Kortl and Amarr spy vessel inside Company and Solvani space has been captured or eliminated," she said during a press conference at Interstellar House. "But I think the biggest success of this operation was causing the Amarr invasion fleet to detour away from their assault on ITCo territory, however briefly."
The Baroness also praised the Constabulary for their restraint. "We were able to accomplish these strategic outcomes while minimizing the destruction of Amarr civilian property and lives, sparing 7 remote mining bases, 2 remote shipyards, and numerous population transports we could have easily obliterated."
Unfortunately - despite earlier ITCo peace offers, repeated warnings against further Amarr hostilities, and a police action - the Kortl and Amarr continue to prepare their invasion of ITCo territory. Over 100 Kortl warships have assembled at a forward resupply base in Sigma, and leaked intelligence reports indicate they are en route to rendezvous with the Amarr fleet before striking Trading Company colonies in Aquarii. There are additional reports that armed Amarri ships have attacked the Trading Company satellite perimeter to test the Aquarii system's defenses.
"It seems that our suspicions were correct," commented Lucius Starfox Sr., VP for External Relations. "The abrupt betrayal of our alliance by the Kortl, and their subsequent destruction of our observer in Borr, was the prelude to them sneaking a massive invasion armada onto our borders."
In the meantime, Kortl and Amarr diplomats have laboured to spread misinformation and deceptive accounts that grossly exaggerate the police action taken against military targets inside Amarr space. "We won't waste our time dignifying these unsubstantiated lies with an official reply" said Starfox Sr. "Fortunately, independent observers were present to observe the minimal aftermath of the police action, to witness the unarmed mining bases, remote shipyards, and population transports spared by Constabulary forces, and to verify the extensive invasion preparations undertaken by the Amarr."
In a rare public appearance, Chairman Kevin addressed the prospect of a truce with the Kortl and Amarr. "Even though they seem committed to continuing their assault on Aquarii, we are prepared to renew our offer of a formal peace agreement." When asked about the details, he replied "Obviously, any deal would have to start with them renouncing their intentions to invade Trading Company territory. After that, our offer would look very much like the previous offers we have made."
The Chairman acknowledged that these previous offers had been ignored by the Kortl and Amarr because of their desire to seize the Aquarii system, but he noted that recent and profound changes to the galactic balance of power would likely change the Kortl's inclination to exhaust itself in a protracted war with the Trading Company.
