Hi all,
I was combing through the Tech Tree and am interested in knowing where to allocate my Research efforts with regards to improving my ships engines.
I'm weighing my options of working up the Propulsion tech tree vs. the Quantum Engines route. Can anyone enlighten with regards to some pros/cons of either option?

You need both for quantum engines (afaik Quantum engine components need lvl 9 Propulsion). However, you'd be better getting lower tech engines, so you can focus on other things as well.

Each engine type requires both a certain level of propulsion and the requisite engine specific technology.

Mixing both efficient and normal engine types gives defensive bonus from both. Seems a bit wacky to me. WAD?

Just checked this out, and can confirm. Mixing efficient and normal engine types stacks their defensive bonuses. Its certainly a bug, and maybe one we can fix for a future game. Its gamey and I suggest people avoid using it.
