The feed comes to life. The outer hulls of several Imperial Hegemon Navy vessels are seen, the camera likely a feed from one of the stations orbiting the Imperial Gem. Small glows of thrust come to life as the vessels turn, breaking orbit and slowly shaking out into formation.
A voice over begins to explain what is being displayed, before the image of the ship shrinks to a corner and a human reporter continues talking. “The Imperial Council, on the directive of His Imperial Majesty, has ordered the formation of the 1st Peacekeeping Operational Fleet. The 1 PKO Fleet left orbit of the Imperial Gem earlier today and we’ve been informed is making sail for Praxis Verdantis. We spoke just moments ago with Admiral Horos Blecher, Commander of the Imperial Hegemon Navy.”
The feed changes to an older appearing humanoid, grey haired, a semi-wrinkled face, yet with vibrant blue eyes. He is adorned in the white uniform of the IHN, complete with all-too-much gold marking rank insignias, IHN emblems, a lanyard and several medals – it’s a uniform meant for dress, not duty. “On order of His Imperial Majesty, the 1st Fleet divested several assets to create 1PKO. The fleet is currently setting sail for Verdantis Prime, where is will maintain orbit and assist in the establishment of a workable peace between the Keshek Hierarchy and the Norak Schism.”
“But won’t the Hierarchy consider this fleet a threat?”
The Admiral smiles softly, charmingly, and explains, “It is unlikely the Hierarchy will find 1PKO a threat. At last report, they have over one-hundred and thirty ships in Praxis Verdantis, and likely more near their other border regions.”
“So then why as the Emperor ordered…” the reporter pauses, likely trying to get the nomenclature correct, “1PKO… to Praxis Verdantis?”
“His Imperial Majesty,” slight annoyance in the Admiral’s tone at the low-usage of title by the reporter, “believes 1PKO will help stabilize the region by providing a buffer zone if you will. As a neutral party to this conflict, 1PKO can provide regional security – something tangible that the Norak Schism will appreciate. As we’re only there to provide security and recognize the rules established through peace negotiations, the Keshek Hierarchy may then feel it acceptable to remove some of their local assets. This has been something the Norak Schism has been requesting all along in order to feel less pressured and more open to negotiation.”
The smile, which had returned as he talked about regional security fades slightly as he continues, “The war is over between the Keshek Hierarchy and the Norak Schism. The latter lost. That is reality; however, it is now imperative rules be established that can one again return our region of space to peace and economic prosperity. The Imperial Hegemon will contribute to that goal every way possible.”
The feed changes back to a picture of 1PKO as the last of the ships seem to form up and move towards one of the distance jump points within Alpheratz. “It is expected 1PKO will reach Verdantis Prime within half a year. We will keep you up to date with this story as it develops.”
