This is a message to anyone who can receive and understand this transmission. The Gryphonic Triarchy has received several requests over the past few years to break agreements with other peoples for various reasons. We feel that at this time we must make our position clear to all. Many of you have heard and agreed to placing diplomatic peoples within the tower on Great Roost. This pleases us to no end that so many are willing to reach for a peaceful coexistence. This offer will forever remain open and any species may accept a place with us at any time.
This however leaves us in a position that could become quite tenuous. In particular, what happens when one side of that table demands that we break off all trade relations with another, or with a species that has not accepted a position with us. We have discussed this at great length and now wish to make this clear. We are a neutral people. We will not raise our weapons against any species in aggressive action. We do not participate in any conflict on either side. The trade relations we share are of benefit to both our peoples in every case. We cannot allow ourselves to be pushed or coerced into action by other parties as that will harm our neutrality. Therefore we declare the below statements to be our standpoint on issues of conflict.
1. We shall act neither for nor against ANY species that does not act against our people directly. This is to include the creation or dissolution of trade agreements and the trading of supplies or ships.
2. We will not allow ourselves to be directed to any action by another species. We will examine every opportunity for trade on an individual basis. An agreement once in place will not be dissolved by us unless direct aggression to our people occurs.
We know that this will seem heartless to many. We know that this will, and has already, shatter relations with others. For this we do offer our regrets, however we cannot in good faith act as neutral mediation if we also are willing to point talons of blame. Our people have suffered much in our past due to rash actions. If this has us labeled as ignorant pacifists then so be it.
To those who have broken relations with us, we hope that in the future we can regain trust with you. To all others, remember that we value your friendship greatly, and will not act against it easily.
