Given that we've just had a serious homeworld bombardment, as well as a couple homeworld sieges, I want to take this opportunity address a particular issue. It is bad form to scrap your cultural centre so as to prevent an invader from capturing it. In terms of role-playing, it is generally not considered plausible to use scorched-earth on a facility that represents the collective physical and cultural infrastructure of an entire space-faring civilization. Thus, by convention it is frowned upon.
If anyone disagrees with this house rule, take the opportunity to articulate your view on the matter in this thread.

An excellent house rule, especially in an RP game.

Homeworlds are what Proportions is all about. Scrapping it just to deny victory to your enemy doesn't seem fair to me. It can actually be destroyed by even a half-hearted bombardment, however.
