---IBS Holocast---
Imperial Council Building, Imperial Gem 1503hrs 2/9/2407
Via holocast Speaker Albinson of the Imperial Council must have appeared more than slightly uncomfortable. Incapacitation of Chancellor Goovin had thrust him as the defacto number two of the Imperium, a position he'd held no ambitions or desire for, until a new Chancellor would be appointed by the Emperor. Abruptness of the accident that had befallen Chancellor Goovin had already cast a long shadow on various Imperial matters and the interstellar conflict raging so close to the border areas certainly did not make things any easier. Some within the Council had even expressed their suspicions of foul play on part of the Keshek but the hastily arranged initial investigation had revealed no indication of such dark deeds.
"The Chancellor is in an induced coma due to the severity of his injuries and doctors are doing everything humanly possible to keep him alive. Initial investigation has revealed no maliciousness or irregularities. In their report the IDFM team, appointed by General Reilly in the immediate aftermath of the accident, suggests that this was a tragic accident, and I encourage everyone to refrain from unnecessary accusations toward any party until additional inquiries are completed."
Gesturing toward a figure in the long row of military personnel behind him, "Grand Marshal Durante is currently setting up a special investigative commission to draft the final official report and work will commence first thing tomorrow. Marshal, if you would be so kind?"
"Thank you sir. First let me say that the thoughts of every service personnel in the IAF are with Chancellor Goovin and his family in this time of tragedy. A man of his astuteness and stature cannot simply be replaced but we will continue in all our efforts with both courage and determination. I would also like to commend the IDFM and General Reilly on their swift action on this day, both during the accident and the following investigation. This coming special inquiry is not a slight toward their ability or competence but a means to be sure this will never happen again. That said, Brigadier Fent has been sent on administrative leave until such date that the inquiries are definitively over. Heading the inquiry is Colonel Sailas of Internal Investigations Command and he will now answer some of the questions you probably have. Go ahead Colonel..."
Another man steps ahead, "Yes sir! The accident today... ... ..."

IBS Newsroom Imperial Gem
--- Imperium Today – with Nabin Tarhok ---
… … … ”So, Ms Fairden, after almost a year of Speaker Albinson filling in as the interim Channelor, we finaly have a legitimate number two. Comments?”
”Well Nabin, Chancellor Kambinen is quite simply the next interchangeable link in a decade long line of Imperial policy. Of course, him being part of Emperor Devereaux' inner circle, this hardly comes as a surprise to anyone... He has been known as a staunch proponent of Spatial Expansionism, so we'll no doubt continue to see a steady increase in colonial endeavours as well as IHN appropriations. The war has already brought up all the military quotas by several orders of magnitude, but the Navy increases should be retained well into the future as the amount forces required to keep the borders secure will only continue to rise and a strong navy is the most cost-effective way to ensure this requirement is met.”
”In his inaugural ceremony he did highlight the need for a governmental reform to take a firm hold on the issues that are rising in some of the more developed colonies. To be fair, this is by no means his proprietary idea. Chancellor Goovin had long been aware of the necessity to include the colonial rulers in to the decision making bodies and, in conjuction with the Imperial Council, had been preparing for some kind of action. So far, using the War Powers Act to fullest, the IDF has been able to keep things under the lid, by force when necessary as was seen on Tuari Prime. Would this be possible ad infinitum during peacetime? I very much doubt it, so this should be welcome news in most government circles. Definetly so within the colonies.”
”What kind of timetable should we expect for this 'reform' to have?”
”Well, it is out of question as long as the war is on that much is certain... After peace has been restored? Months, at the very least. More likely over a year. You know what what they say about bureucratic wheels...”
”Indeed. Unfortunately, our time is short but many thanks to you, Ms Fairden, for your analysis. I'm Nabin Tarhok, please tune in next week for another installment of Imperium Today...”
