Before Rald rested he tapped the omnipad a few more times, checking and rechecking the confirmation status and itinerary of the takeover staff. Rald had selected each member by hand. Making those choices from the remaining few millions of schism the task had still been daunting. It was mostly the massive underphid population that had been lost with the homeworld. The upper crust of the aristocracy had been able to afford refuge on a dozen homeworlds.
Rald gazed on the list of Two hundred and seven administrators. Amusingly the number of support staff had ballooned into two thousand overnight. Every hour a few more requests for teams would punch through to his own aide for approval. Their numbers included everything from assistants to specialist krill farmers. Something about needing to adjust the biosphere of the planet. There were also over a hundred construction staff, to help reconstruct even the architecture nature of the previous regime and bring the vision of the Oligarchy and council governance to the nightmare of the failed Hierarchy. It would be slow but constant work.
Gladly, the population was jubilant. They felt liberated. They rejoiced when reports arrived of Aalien, Ediface or even Schism vessels managed to take down another of the old Hierarchy vessels. To the citizens, their previous government, they were traitors to the citizens. They deserved death. It was invigorating to Rald. It also made propaganda campaigns easy.
But Rald knew that there was still a fine line they would need to walk when revisiting the core principals of the Hierarchy's old regime. Some aspects would be amputated entirely, starting with the entire Hierarchy political compound. It would be rebuilt with more in mind for the Norak biology. It would also be fortified and defended with ten meters of the new type-6 titansteel alloy the jovian-schism scientists had recently developed. And then mounted with enough firepower to obliterate a few fleets of dreadnoughts. Or a large unruly crowd of snakes.
Rald sighed. Time for that enough later. He laid back in the creche, tapped down the water temperature a few degrees and slid into a deep dreamless sleep.
