History
The Adherents of Veritas are the children of a proud, extremely ambitious and highly intelligent species. Centuries ago, they referred to themselves as 'Ma Dowuba', which roughly translates to 'The Leading' in the common tongue.
The Ma Dowuba were a bipedal reptilian like race, known for their advancement of technology, genetics, bio enhancements, and were considered by many in the galaxy as the masters of technological evolution.
Under a free market expansion of some of the most advanced genetic and bio technological enhancements made available to the general public, the species began to stratify. Beliefs over which direction to enhance oneself created sects, militias, multinational, and sub-national groups that all attempted to assert power over others as proof that their divergence was indeed the proper ascendancy for their species. Evolution was quick and unforgiving; the species began to fracture as their wars consumed them.
After several interplanetary wars, an event, now known as 'Ma Transcrama' or roughly translated 'The Final Conflict' plunged the solar system into darkness. Billions suffered through scores of long lasting bio and technological warfare that made it impossible for any one group to seize power.
Eventually a summit was held to try and barter peace and to forge a way forward for what remained of the species, this was known as the 'Ma Grossda Tada' which roughly translates to 'The Summit of the Freaks'.
A treaty was signed by all parties and it was agreed that for the betterment of the species a council be created from the group's most intelligent and freethinking (albeit genetically enhanced) minds. Their goal was to create a roadmap for the species' convergence and to find the root of what drove the species into conflict. This process lasted over a century, it became commonly known as 'Ma Dawubee' or in common tongue 'The Destination'
One of the earliest and most repeated findings of the council was that deceit and treachery were at the root of the conflicts. The council recommended that 'truth' be the ultimate goal of the species, and 'lies' become rid of the species understanding.
To do this, it was decreed that all citizen's telepathic transcribers give complete access of one's mind to another. A series of genetic and biotechnological enhancements were recommended over a period of time to help maximize communicative bandwidth between individuals and facilitate the sharing of truth and experiences between citizens.
The first citizens who went through this transformation described their new lives as 'pure enlightenment' or 'a bliss of truth and wisdom'; every interaction with another was described as 'living the lives of thousands in a fraction of second'. As more converted, truth became not just a way of life, but a religion. The species believed that they had gone through a transformative exaltation, bringing them closer to what they now see as a higher power, known as 'Sannhat' or 'Truth'.
After several generations of transformation the species now considers their convergence complete. An agreed upon set of genetic traits has unified their look and function into their new age of being. They have since called their race 'Da Maroda Ma Sannhat' or best translated to
'The Adherents of Veritas'.
In order to ensure steady progress, the species is segregated into two classes known as the 'Seekers' and 'Resolvers'. 'Seekers' are responsible the species external bidding and information gathering, they then share this information with the 'Resolvers' who are responsible for deliberation and decision making. The original founding council of the species currently lives on and is now known as 'The Council of Resolution'
Their current mission is interplanetary expansion. They are extremely distrustful of other species. For meaningful dialogue with other species they require that other species's ambassadors wear a two way telepathic transcriber head band, which offers complete mind access, or long periods of trust building.
