A Zabéaran diplomatic delegation approaches the halls of the Archon on Kalisa, consisting of several colourfully attired individuals. The delegation seems at ease in the Kalisa evening, seeing as the environment is uncannily similar to Zabéara. Leading the delegation is a standard-bearer dressed in archaic military gear, a plated helmet adorned with three tall feathers covers his entire face save for two eye holes, chainmail armour adorning the four limbs, and an ornate breastplate covering the torso, with a dark red blue cape gently floating in the wind. He is carrying a square flag mounted on a pole, embroidered with gold on the margins, its centre depicts a complex scene clearly involving two holy individuals bowing to a higher halo-enveloped humanoid resting in the clouds.
Behind him walk several Baeshènzi. Some sport armour similar to the standard-bearer, their faces obscured by armour save for their glowing yellow eyes. Others are dressed in intricate green or blue robes with complex patterns that flow down to pointy slipper-like shoes. Each sports hats of varying sizes, each being triangular or circular in shape. One, sporting a silky-blue robe, purple sash, gold headband, and an enormous pot-shaped hat, approached to stand just in front of the standardbearer. He bows to the representative of the Archon, the rest of the delegation following suit, save for the standard-bearer.
Rising, he speaks. ‘’To the Honoured Lord of Kalisa, Master of the D’Kali, Vanquisher of the Adherents, we greet thee. ‘’
‘’Word has reached the Dominion of the great victory won by Lord Karo in the Asteria system. Truly, the D’kali warriors have great prowess and have deservedly achieved a great victory over those who arrogantly and falsely speak of ‘’truth’’ in their title. The Patriarchs of the Dominion have taken note of your greatness. As such, it is our wish to present you with gifts of friendship and recognition of this auspicious occasion.’’
After bowing again, the blue-dressed Baeshènzi with the enormous hat moves aside, and others come up behind him. The first are two warriors, who kneeling, present outstretched a wicked curved blade, oversized for a Baeshènzi, but more like a large dagger for a D’kali. The other warrior presents a kind of jewel-encrusted baton, engraved with several religious scenes.
‘’This blade,’’ nods the speaker, ‘’ Is a poisoned Zabera Nerda, a traditional symbol of righteousness. The exceptional level of quality in its material and crafting also have made it a symbol of nobility.’’
The speaker turns to the jewel-encrusted baton. ‘’The battle of Asteria was a glory upon all D’kali, but especially Lord Karo. The Lords of Zabéara wish to present to him this baton, that accorded to a Hattuzil, a secondary Admiral in the Zabéara fleet, in recognition of his glory.’’
After the two warriors, a Baeshènzi approaches with a box. Opening it, he reveals a single large egg.
The speaker picks up the egg and presents it. ‘’This egg belongs to a most rare and precious species of creature native to Zabéara. When it hatches, it shall release a creature that will grow to be most vicious, intelligent, and dangerous. With a strong will however, it can be controlled, and indeed ridden as a flying mount, although a full grown D’kali may be too large for such an endeavour. Nevertheless, there are very few such specimens left of these creatures on our own world, and we think its temperament, strength, and cunning a suitable companion to a D’kali Lord.’’
After presenting several other gifts, including specially translated copies of Zabéara holy books, the delegation departs for their diplomatic quarters.
