The Captain of the R.S.S. Ace looked out at the two strange ships on his screen. They were both larger than the Ace, about the size of the Empire’s frigates. Markings are present all over the ships that appear to be of a language. The ship computer has translated them to be religious text from the Dominion of Zabeara.
The Ships advance at high speed directly towards the Ace. The Captain orders the colony ship which is under escort to land on the planet and offload the ship as soon as possible. Battle Stations are manned and a warning communication is sent to the invading ships. The only response is a stream of unintelligible voices followed with what appears to be a warcry.
Both sides approach each other and launch their respective missiles. They then pull a hard 180 degree turn to steer away from the incoming threat. The first Salvo misses the Ace, while it’s return fire manages to strike home on the first target. The ship begins to slow and roll uncontrollably. The captain orders another salvo into the damaged ship. It explodes while the Ace is dodging the next round of missiles.
Missiles are exchanged between the remaining vessels several times, none scoring hits. While this battle is taking place, the colony ship manages to land on the colony and colonists begin to offload the ship. In one last masterful maneuver, the ace swings itself around the planet and ends up close enough to launch its missiles, leaving no chance for the Dominion ship to avoid them. The Ace turns hard to port, but the return fire from the dieing ship curls into the turn.
The first strikes the missile bank of the Ace. Secondary explosions disable the Bridge and the Crew Quarters, taking about ⅓ of the crew with it. The Captain manages to crawl through the damaged bulkhead out of the bridge just before it manages to finally seal shut. He gets the damage control team working hard and the ships orbit is stabilized in time. The ship is saved.
He now has time to check into the secondary bridge in engineering. The long range sensors are still operational and they inform him of a third ship present and approaching at top speed. He readies his crew for one last battle to defend the colony.
The reinforcement fleet has finally arrived from Home. The enemy ship has fled the system, unscathed. The cowardly attack on the colony has left no survivors. 1 million colonists have died, only days after landing. Only Wreckage could be found of the R.S.S. Ace. The attack was completely unprovoked, more befitting of pirates than a civilized society.
