The Tau Ceti Empire Condemns the action of the Dominion of Zabeara in Thor. The unprovoked, and senseless slaughter of the entire colony, 1 million civilians, is unwarranted and unbecoming of a civilized society. Any further Dominion ships found in the space of the Tau Ceti Empire will be destroyed. No trade will take place between our two peoples until proper amends can be made for this event. We encourage other members of the Galactic Community to take a similar stance.

The Kortl are upset about the destruction of one million lives in such a wasteful way. We join the Tau Ceti and similarly impose a trade embargo upon all goods from the Dominion for this action.

The Consensus condemns violence in all it's forms and will reassess all current dealings with the Dominion until a satisfactory explanation for this barbaric act is provided.

*** This is the Darkstar Alliance Diplomatic Intelligence Computer ***
Even the most rudimentary analysis of the situation regarding this event reveals that the Tau Ceti have been acting agressivly towards other species of the galaxy. They continue with unfounded territorial claims, spying, and attacks. I would advise those who seek to stand with the Tau Ceti to please take some time to carefully consider what the Tau Ceti may be planning against them in secret while giving the appearance of being a friend.
I estimate the probability of intergalactic war to be 85.30% with a confidence level of 95%. Upper bounds at 91.01%, lower bounds at 83.11% Predicted outcome: Classified.
The probabilistic importance of trade and research embargos against the Dominion towards my analysis: negligable.

Given the hostile and aggressive position the Tau Ceti have taken towards the Dominion, the neutralization of their Thor forward supply base was a necessary action to protect Dominion space just north of it. The Dominion desires peace with the Tau Ceti, but as long as the Tau Ceti insist on hostility, we consider it within our divine right to neutralize attempts to secure forward supply bases that could be used to threaten the Dominion. Any responsible government would take similar action to protect themselves from an overtly hostile entity on their border.

In Response to the Darkstar Alliance:
Our Territorial claims are well established and not excessive. We have established colonies, satellites, permanent ship movements and stations in the systems that we have claimed to secure them as living space for our people. Any incursion has been first met with a warning to the offending vessels before any need of escalation is even considered. Up to this point, no Darkstar Alliance vessel have been fired upon for breach of borders.
In the contested systems, the Darkstar Alliance has had no history of claims and no established presence. We have made no aggressive moves beyond our borders and sent no further warships to the area than is required for colonial defense. To this date, no armed Empire Ship as been located in the same system as a Darkstar Alliance vessel, planet or unit.
The Darkstar Alliance has been the aggressor in our relations. The latest incursion into Empire Space is a fleet of 10 frigate size vessels on course to the Empire's home system. The Empire will do as much as is required to secure our borders, as any Empire in our situation would.

In Response to the Dominion of Zabeara:
Any perceived hostility put forth by the Tau Ceti Empire is a function of self defence to the hostility presented by the Dominion of Zabeara. Until this Massacre, no shots have been fired by Tau Ceti Warships against any ship of the Dominion of Zabeara. The Colony that was destroyed was a core system colony 2 systems from the border and 3 systems from any Dominion Colony. It was not a forward supply base as suggested by the Dominion representative.
Before this, there were only 2 interactions between Empire and Dominion forces:
1. A Dominion Scout ship entered the home system of the Empire and attempted to demand the conversion of the Tau Ceti Empire. The Empire rejected these demands and allowed the scout ship to peacefully leave Empire space by the direction it came. It did so and no shots were fired.
2. An Unarmed Empire Scout vessel proceeded north into unknown space. This space turned out to be Dominion Territory. This ship was attacked and destroyed without any warning or mercy.
The Dominion attack on Thor was a planned, deliberate strike to disrupt the Empire and it resulted in the deaths of a million civilians. It used purpose built ships with the supply range to span the great distance between our two Empires. Finally, it was unprovoked as no aggressive action was taken towards the Dominion on the lead up to this attack.

As both sides seem to be bent on blaming each other, and as there is but each side's word to decide upon, the Consensus has no choice but to encourage the Dominion and the Empire to resolve their differences in a peaceful manner. Should the conflict escalate further the Consensus has no choice but to terminate trade with both parties.

The Archon and his council have been watching this comm traffic with some curiousity. One clan, that is the Zabearans, felt threatened with an unexpected colony. They moved to protect their territory and the Tau Ceti did not adequately protect their nests. The situation is typical and expected; perhaps in the future, the Tau Ceti will actually protect their young or their defenceless.
