ITCo Denounces Amarr Aggression Against Solvani in Chi System
Juno IV - Earlier today, the Juno detachment of the ITCo Constabulary received an urgent distress call from Solvani miners in the adjacent Chi system. They reported 8 Amarr warships heading towards them with the intent to destroy their base and vessels.
"The Juno detachment is currently not prepared to respond to this kind of peacekeeping mission," explained an unnamed official inside the Constabulary. "But we hope the Amarr will abandon their reckless assault on the Solvani miners so that those two organizations can negotiate a proper border without the threat of violence."
Lucius Starfox Sr., ITCo VP for Strategic Operations, also commented on the Chi situation in a press conference at Interstellar House. "We have offered a formal apology to the Solvani ambassador for proposing to acknowledge Amarri sovereignty over Chi in our recent peace offer. We did not investigate the extent to which Amarri territorial claims in Chi were justified by the presence of their ships and the active use of the system by their empire. This was an oversight on our part." Recent reports from the Constabulary confirm that the Amarr have operated neither ships, colonies, nor mining facilities in the Chi system.
"This appears to be part of a larger pattern of Amarri behaviour," noted Dr. Jethrow Tolliver, a post-doctoral researcher in cosmographical politics at the Oceanian Institute. "It seems that the Amarr leadership have deliberately tried to conflate the ideas of claiming territory with exercising sovereignty in an effort to justify their belligerent actions. Quite simply, sovereignty does not exist because Amarri cartographers feel like a certain star system ought to be part of their empire; it requires an active presence and demonstrable use of the system by the empire. This was not the case in Chi."
Despite this latest aggression from the Amarr, Starfox Sr. was hopeful that the fragile peace would hold in the region. "We expect that the Chi incident will provide us with an opportunity to strengthen corporate relations with the Solvani Imperium, and demonstrate to the Amarr that their continued hostilities against their galactic neighbours will not be tolerated." --
