Referendum on the Political Status of the Diamond Empire Carried out Across Diamond Population Centres
96.77% of Diamond Voters Choose Annexation.

According to official results released by the Dominion Occupation & Organizational Ministry (D.O.O.M.), an overwhelming number of voters have chosen to permanently join the Holy Dominion. Representatives of other ministries of the Dominion welcomed the results, saying that they would lay the foundation for ''more substantial changes to Diamond society, including hopefully the removal of any democratic institutions and other such heretical nonsense.''

The referendum came just months after the wrapping up of an invasion by Dominion forces which overthrew the Empire's government.  Although official turnout numbers have not been released, anonymous third party sources have claimed that voter turnout was low, particularly in the ruined major metropolitan cities of the homeworld, renamed Diamond-iz, and that voters were subjected to intense intimidation and systematic electoral fraud. Such reports could not be confirmed since INN reporters have all been denied visas to the occupied territories within the former borders of the Diamond Empire.

While officially opposing any form of democratic governance, Dominion officials held the referendum in respect of ''the initially heretical sensibilities of non-Baeshènz.''
