I've been getting questions about installing the mod if you bought the game from steam, so I'm going to post some instructions here:
Installing the mod requires a few steps. first you need to get to your SEIV directory. If you are using Windows, the directory pathway is going to be something like Programfiles (x86)/Steam/Steamapps/Common/Space Empires IV Deluxe/se4.
When you get to this directory, follow these steps:
1. Go to the "extras" file and install the TDM modpack into the main directory - its a mod controller.
2. create a file in the main directory called "Proportions".
3. Unzip your Proportions 3.1.3. Mod and extract the files into the "Proportions" folder you made in the se4 directory.
4. Use the executable created by the TDM modpack to launch the mod.
5. If this does not work for whatever reason, go into the "Path.txt" notepad file in the main directory and change the "Using Mod Directory" part of the file to say ":= Proportions"
Note that when you boot up the game it may NOT say "Proportions 3.1.3". Mine still says "Version 1.95" as if it were still vanilla. But its not. A quick way to make sure is to start up a game using "quick start" and look at your homeworld's facilities. Does your homeworld have a cultural center? If it does, congratulations, you are playing proportions mod!

Perfect thanks, I was able to run the mod but still have a couple of questions:
1.The version of TDM included in my SE4 pack was 3.5 (which I installed), and the latest I found on the web is 3.6. Should I upgrade to 3.6? 2.I run the game using the SE4 Launcher - and works fine - but when running the game from Steam it launches the vanilla version. I really want to launch the game via Steam and to track my time on the game, how can I fix this? 3. It seems there are more mods and extras that could be really useful and not alter the game mechanics (graphics perhaps?) but in the Launcher I can only select one mod to launch. Is it possible to use more than one mod? how?
THX for the help. r

Hey Rob,
1. I don't think it is a big deal; you can use the TDM included in the "extras" folder, even if its outdated.
2. Hmmm....when I launch from steam, the game is still in proportions mod. Remember that it WON'T say proportions mod, but if you start an actual game you will notice that it probably is...(check to see if there is a cultural centre on your homeworld...if there is, you're playing proportions mod). But, even if you launch it without steam, I think steam will still tell you how many minutes you played (both launching it with and without)
3. The only other compatible things I would add to the game are more ship sets (every race/empire in Space Empires has/needs a collection of images of its ships, bases, flag, race picture, etc etc...these imaged are held together in a folder and called a "ship set"). You can get a bunch that are compatible with proportions mod from the "atrocities" ship set pack already in the "extras" folder of your game's main directory.
Hope this helps some!

If anyone is having trouble, send me a PM and I can give you a pre-installed dropbox .rar of the files. Just uncompress and play! =)

For efficiency's sake, I think we're going to make a dropbox folder to share all the ship sets people are going to use in the game. Some people, myself included but also likely a few other experienced players, are going to use custom-modified ship sets, and in order for them to render, everyone will need to download and install them.
