Following suit with others, I figure I'd put up an Empire description following the three headings within SEIV. Also, I have to say... Bravo Zulu to the empire descriptions you've written! Wow. Very unique. And with that, I decided to be THAT guy and create a human empire!
Biological Description
Humans (Homo sapiens) are primates of the family Hominidae, and the only extant species of the genus Homo. Humans are distinguished from other primates on their home planet, Earth, by their bipedal locomotion, and especially by their relatively larger brain with its particular well developed neocortex, prefrontal cortex and temporal lobes. Physically, humans came in a variety of shapes, colours (hair, eyes, skin tone), height and density – all exceptionally noticeably to humans, having been the cause of numerous societal issues in their past – and yet usually not noticed by other races. The humans of the Empire were, at one time, some of the brightest of their species.
<TL;DR> Look in mirror.
Society Description
The current governance is a form of Aristocracy, with an Emperor as the head of state. He is advised by a number of Lords, Dukes, Regents, and other individuals with noble titles. Though in the early years after the Unification War the “nobility” was established to follow a bloodline, this has eased over the years – in fact, the form of governance is almost a Techno-Aristocracy. Though there are no elections, the ruling elite truly do seek to better the Empire as a whole and not only their position and status.
It is because of these values that the people of the Imperial Hegemon have come to accept and embrace the current form of government. The populace is broken into civilians and citizens. Civilians, properly cared for by the state, are comparable to private sector workers. Citizens, on the other hands, are those who serve the state. Citizens are granted a larger number of rights and freedoms; however, there is no animosity between either status.
General History
The originators of the Empire’s history begin long before its current form. A slower than light sleeper ship filled with tens of thousands of the brightest minds of Earth and piloted by Artificial Intelligence left the Sol System in the earliest days of Earth’s outward expansion. Destined for Alpha Centauri, an alteration in the AI’s orders, for unknown reasons, sailed the ship passed its destination and onwards into the depths of space. For centuries the AI continued looking for a new planet to colonize until an unknown navigational hazard, a warp point, caused the vessel to travel an untold distance. Damaged upon emerging into a new system, the vessel immediately settled onto the nearest habitable planet.
Due to damage sustained during the warp point jump, as well as a less than idea landing, much of the human’s advanced technologies was lost – though not all. Though the earliest of days were tough, what started as a small city around the remains of the colony ship expanded into a global village through the centuries – a true hegemon over the Planet. The benefits of what technology remained and the knowledge of the environmental impacts possibly by man’s exploitation meant that this new home was not nearly as ravaged as their old. However, much like the history of Earth, conflict was a contributing factor in the development of the empire.
As time passed, resources found and exploited, conflict was bound to erupt. The growing conflicts resulted in small successions, regional states pressing to become sovereign entities. Unwilling to yield to diminished productivity and advancement due to competing interests, even the most intelligent sometimes find that it is easier to use the boot than the brain. Deception, guise, and threat – all well-known to man – became common place. A short, but violent war erupted – one that was not anticipated by most of the new nations. What was once an effective technocracy, then a liberal democracy, soon became an autocracy to ensure the success of the empire. During the days after the way, somewhere along the lines, a ruling elite emerged who took fondly to the idea of labels and titles that once held meaning on Earth. The newly established head of state soon found himself labelled an Emperor, and the empire he ruled over became known as the Imperial Hegemon.

I'm not a huge fan of anonymity on the net, but more importantly, as this game may go on for some time I thought I'd let you know a little bit about myself. First off, I'm Canadian (no, not gonna say I'm sorry because it's pretty wicked being Canadian). I was born in Vancouver and enjoyed the multicultural and visually stunning West Coast of both British Columbia and North America as a whole. I say that because after high school I decided it'd be a good idea to ride my motorcycle up to Alaska, and the following summer down to California. Was a great time.
I'm currently an Infantry Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. I've served with numerous NATO forces, in several NATO countries, and I've served in Afghanistan with both a US Battlegroup and a Canadian Battlegroup. It was a privilege and perhaps one of the greatest experiences of my life. I'm currently working on a Masters and at some point, both because I'm Canadian and because it's a requirement, I will be tackling the French language. I'm a recipient of the GCS-SWA(x2) and the MSM.
Part of the reason I mention this is because from time to time I will not be able to take my turns. When I know in advance, I will certainly make it known to everyone and will seek to find someone to take my turns for me. Preferably someone in an alliance with me ;o)
Anyways. I am looking forward to this, it is my first online game of SEIV and I am looking forward to both the challenge and the story!
