So, I'm trying to get a bit of a grasp of the tech tree, as well as some of the changes over vanilla SEIV.
I'm noticing a lot of new techs and a lot of new end results. Example - I started a game on the side, researched efficient bases and got a Utility Station. Didn't see it coming.
For those that have played a lot of proportions, willing to give some insight into some of the major changes, new techs, new things to watch for?
What is a Starliner? What is it good for?

Each 1M population takes 1000k tons of cargo space. Since it will take a very large transport full of cargo holds to fit just 1M, starliners are a cheap and low tech way to do it. Population can heavily modify both construction and production so moving population from your homeworld to your colonies is vital.
There is a "Tech Tree" button in the technology screen.

Seen and seen.
Heavy Spacecraft I think was one of the techs - is that just a earlier tech fighter?

I suggest you make a game w/ a 'High' tech level (so all techs are unlocked). Look through the ships, components & facilities you like, then search for them in the VesselSize, Components or Facilities data files to find their tech requirements (and you can look those up in the TechArea to see if those techs need to be researched first).
