For the eyes of SCIO, Supreme Council Intelligence Overseer, Din Naestra.
The 2nd NSOIA has completed it's lengthy analysis of what I shall now refer as the Isolde-Taurus Incident. I wish to also reaffirm my previous complaints about referring to each single ship as an Armada.
The Isolde-Taurus Incident involved the sudden disappearance of our vessel the Lord Brethik Explorer late last year. Upon returning to the sector, we found the warpgate to be stable, the wreckage had not scattered far. It seems their flight history gave details of their transit through an unstable solar system with a hyper-dense star, Enif. It may have caused some unknown damage during their transit which eventually resulted in their expiration when the warpgate triggered an explosion. It's uncertain why the other jumps previous to the Isolde-Taurus Incident didn't trigger the event. The rest of their communication logs were utterly destroyed, so we cannot be certain if they knew their fate or if it was sudden.
The lead scientist on the team wishes me to also add in that there is a mass related anomaly in the readings of the recovered vessel fragments. He suggests that there is simply too much weight, given their assigned loadout. I tried to assuage his concerns by suggesting that they probably just picked up an asteroid to slice up and bring home and show the little phidlings.
My advice? We should probably avoid the Enif system until further notice. At the time of this report, I've initiated an alert, detailing such, to the rest of the "Armadas".

“I’m not impressed… not in the least, Chancellor.”
The Emperor stood in the command office of Imperial Dockyards 0002, the second in a planned series of orbital industrial complexes. Such dockyards were becoming a continual drain on the economy – though, as most would agree, their construction had been the betterment of the Hegemon.
Chancellor Edward Goovin remained silent despite being the only other person in the office, for there was nothing to be said. The reports were clear – the Imperial Hegemon Military Ship Hermes had engaged two separate alien vessels in the Enif System. Both alien vessels had been destroyed. One of those ships was unarmed. It was the Hegemon’s first contact with other sentient life, and the Hegemon had silenced them.
The Emperor looking out through the viewport, his eyes trained upon the technicians who moved about and worked on the newest of the Hillier class vessels. “And Captain Herbert?” Before the question had even left the Emperor’s lips, he had turned to look upon Edward. Edward Gooven, Chancellor of the Imperial Hegemon, Duke of the Imperial Gem (in title, anyways), had been Emperor Ethan Devereaux’s advisor for just shy of twenty years. They had faced many situations and kept few secrets from each other…
“He’s with IIS, and I suspect soon after he will be with the ISB, Sire.” In other words, a Captain who had left over a year ago to fanfare and excitement, surely thinking his family would be granted an elevated status within the empire, would now likely have a tragic accident shortly after all possible intelligence was gathered. The Imperial Intelligence Service would certainly use any and all methods of extracting information on both the Norak Schism and the Keshek Hierarchy from Captain Herbert given his fall from grace. After that, the Imperial Security Bureau would take an interest. Within a month, the citizens of the Imperial Gem would collectively mourn a tragic accident, forget, and move on.
The Emperor nodded faintly, still watching the tradesmen and women in their EVAs as they oversaw robotic manipulators moving components into position. “Ensure High Ambassador Van Hautum dispatches personnel from the IDC in an attempt to establish an embassy with both races, we must certainly know more as we move forward.” Turning about, hands clasping behind his back, Emperor Devereaux know brought his full attention upon Goovin. “Sire, the Pluto launched this morning hoping to achieve that very mission.”
The Imperial Hegemon Diplomatic Corps vessel Pluto was the first of her class, a smaller ship, unarmed, and hoping to establish further communications on behalf of the Hegemon.
Another faint nod, content with the latest developments, the Emperor moved towards the exit of the command office as two members of the Imperial Guard exited first. The trip back to the Imperial City would be a quick one, but the Emperor felt with the latest events it best to make a personal visit to the Dockyards and seat of the Imperial Space Command.
