I have god like (150ish IIRC), but as you can see from the graph that is fairly balanced as opposed to 180+. I'm not complaining though maintenance is still not a huge factor for me, though it will matter far sooner than some other empires.

Maintenance has been a huge issue for the empires in the northwest corner. I've come close several times to bankrupting myself to support my ship numbers to respond to the Keshek, Norak and Edifice ship numbers. I have about 130% maintenance and it is a huge difference compared to the empires around me.

Yeah, I just realized I had "Impressive(110%)" maintenance as well. Too OP(although..to be fair...I did balance it out with a couple big maluses I have! )

Its kind of a shame that this game is so unbalanced considering how long we have been playing!

Pshh, we are still in the early phases of this type of game. We haven't even hit turn 100 yet.

No worries. This is my first game, and i have been really enjoying it. Only downside is the glacial pace!

No worries. This is my first game, and i have been really enjoying it. Only downside is the glacial pace! This game is actually moving faster than usual due to the low research costs...I predict we'll start seeing superweapons fielded around turn 200, rather than 300 as is the norm. We are thinking of raising tech research costs for the next game to medium again to slow this process down. If anyone objects to this, make sure to voice your opinion before hand.

I'm really surprised too to see high level components at this time. Rampant tech trade contributed to it more than research cost I think.

That and having more points through trade and research alliances than last game.

Rampant tech trades have certainly been a factor, especially with the northern alliance against the Hierarchy. But in Proportional Empires, tech costs were on high, and when Taura was destroyed we were all still largely in the 'Ion Age' and I think point-defense 3 was only just coming around. And that was around turn 150.

It's a good point that tech trading and more empires would make a significant difference. If we do another game after this one, with 16 again, we should do medium tech costs I think. High is really expensive, but I feel that low is a bit too cheap.

Speaking of OP techs, what are your opinions on the merchant race tech? From proportions, it seems that space ports are sorta-kinda already built into a lot of cities(unless I'm going mad)

Merchant Race is the one that makes it so you don't need space ports, right? I think in Proportions it's pretty damn awesome. While yes, Space Ports get built into a lot of later-tree cities, it gives you a phenomenal leg up in the early game, as you can get your colonies in a system to be productive that much sooner. You aren't spending the 10-15 turns building up that spaceport first!
